Cefixime is an antibiotic which is indicated for treatment of various bacterial infections including UTI, strep throat, Lyme disease, and pneumonia. It is known to work by inhibiting synthesis of bacterial wall by binding to one of PBPs and interfering with final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis. This chemical has molecular formula C16H15N5O7S2 with molar mass of 453.452 g/mol and bioavailability range of 30 to 50%. It is highly effective in nature and assures no adverse effects if consumed under prescription. Cefixime belongs to third generation cephalosporin drug class and is considered safe to be consumed during pregnancy.
